Situated along the Sabie and Sand Rivers,
the Tinga concession is in the prime game-viewing area of the Kruger
National Park. The Sabie River has the richest biodiversity of any South
African river. The Sabie River area has the highest recorded density of
leopards in Africa, as well as one of the highest predator densities. The
river is the lifeblood of the southern Kruger National Park, sustaining
large herds of buffalo and elephant. White and black rhino are found amongst
the thickets alongside the river. Large numbers of general game, prolific
birdlife, and a wonderful array of microfauna and flora complete the safari
experience. With 5000 hectares of exclusive traversing, as well as access to
the entire Kruger network, guests at Tinga are guaranteed the best that the
Kruger has to offer. |

Experience the
thrill of tracking game with experienced guides and trackers. Early
morning and late afternoon game drives allow for close encounters with
the resident wildlife. After sundowners with spectacular sunsets,
prepare for the excitement of the night-drive, where the trackers’ skill
with a spotlight reveals anything from a chameleon in a tree to a male
lion coalition patrolling their territory.
Guided bush walks reveal those facets often missed when on drive. Tinga
Guides will open your eyes to fascinating ecological wonders of the
bushveld, such as the sodic sites. Under careful supervision, walk
through the riverine vegetation down to the hippo pools.
In the heat of the day, relax on the private viewing deck of the suite,
or in the private heated plunge pool, and watch as a parade of game
comes down to the river to slake their thirst. Big game sightings are
common from both Legends and Narina lodges.
Our two resident therapists offer a range of wellness treatments, which
can be enjoyed in the privacy of the suites. Using the Algologie product
range, and trained by One Wellness, these treatments enhance the
tranquility of your surroundings.
For the more energetic, the Skukuza Golf Course is nearby, providing the
unique opportunity to play a round of golf on a course where wildlife
roams freely.

Legends Lodge |
 |
Legends is named in honour of those whose vision and foresight ensured that
one of the world’s greatest natural treasures exists today.
The lodge has an eclectic design mix of Afro colonial and classic
gentleman’s club, with mounted antelope horns, Persian rugs and fine African
antiquities.
The thatched cathedral-like entrance leads through to the colonial comfort
of the lounge, which opens onto the massive wooden deck overlooking the
Sabie River.
Built around an enormous Jackalberry tree which is reputed to be over 200
years old, the deck affords magnificent views of the Sabie River, and
regular sightings of game, including members of the Big Five.
Facilities at Legends include a library stocked with an array of African
literature, a wine cellar stocked with premier South African and
international wines, a boma, bar and wellness centre. There is also a large
eternity swimming pool situated next to the wooden deck allowing
unobstructed views of the Sabie River.

Narina
Lodge |
 |
Although similar to Legends, Narina has a distinctly more African feel. The
main deck is on stilts overlooking the Sabie River, and the suites are
connected by an elevated wooden walkway. The lodge comprises nine suites.
Game sightings are exceptional at Narina. In winter, elephant and buffalo
are seen daily, with large herds making their way down to the river in a
cloud of dust. Lion prides are frequently seen, lazing in the shade of large
figs and leopards make an occasional appearance.
Resident wildlife includes bushbuck, nyala, kudu, warthog, baboons and
vervet monkeys. Hippos and crocodiles are present in the river, and are
often seen on the sandbanks. The large sycamore fig tree in front of the
main deck attracts a myriad of birds, including broadbilled rollers, green
pigeons, trumpeter hornbills and lilac-breasted rollers. Wood owls are often
heard calling at night.
